Mark Van Overmeire

Belgian-American composer Mark Van Overmeire was born in Sint-Amandsberg, Belgium on April 2, 1968. Music sparkled his imagination when he was well in his teens and he started studying classical guitar, percussion and music theory at the Municpal Conservatory of Bruges when he was 15 years old.

At the age of 17 Mark studied classical harmony at the Municpal Conservatory of Bruges. At that time he got interested in the exciting rhythms of jazz and studied jazz harmony at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent.

His work has been performed by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra on the album "Mark Van Overmeire | Angkor".

World famous guitar player Irina Kulikova performed the world premiere recording of 2 of Mark's guitar suites on her album "La Forét ~ Drie Rivieren".

He recently finished composing the choral suite "Between the shadows" and "Nebua", a suite for choir and orchestra.

"Between the shadows", Mark's suite for choir, will be recorded amd performed in 2025 by three-time GRAMMY® nominee Skylark under the artistic direction of Matthew Guard.
